 | Cutting Chart for Low Cost Mag Mount
If you are transmitting from this magnetic aerial, you must cut the whip to the correct length. Cut it to the TX channel as the receiver is not critical on its aerial length. If you use more than one channel, use the mid way point between the channels for the cutting frequency.
If you are using Data & Voice on two channels, either cut the whip to the mid point, but as you should be using the data 99% of the time, it is best to optomise it for data.
Remember, mag mounts are not good for data, you may not notice anything in the vehicle but the computer back at the office has to work a lot harder to communicate with your data head, some times failing a number of times before getting through. Changing to a bolt on aerial makes a big differance.

 | High Gain 3db Whip (SPA-AVGHB)
A high gain black aerial giving you twice as much received signal but this does not mean it goes twice as far. In poor signal areas, you could be in a position where you receive signals with this where as if you had a 1/4 wave aerial, you would not. These aerials are wide band which is unusual for a high gain aerial. One length of 1150mm covers all high band and some of mid band, 162 - 174 Mhz.
Needs a base such as mag mount, bolt on, body mount or boot lid mount.

Technically the best way to fix an aerial on a vehicle. Drill a hole and use a bolt on body mount. Its best on the roof but the next best place is the rear wing, normally on the off side so when parked on the edge of the road, people walking by don't brush against it.
