Our main stock of hire handportable's are Press2talk, Motorola GP340's.
As standard, these have 16 programmed hire channels so that you have the choice of operating all your hire radios on one channel so everybody hears everything or you can split your radio users into a number of groups, each one being allocated a channel.
Although we have many hundreds of these, we hold backup stocks of the earlier Motorola GP300 as well as Icom and Entel equipment.
RANGE
The usable range of two way radios depend on the surrounding obstacles, such as high buildings, hills, thick woods and fast rising ground. Normally you would be able to communicate up to 2 miles or more in the open and about half a mile in a built up area.
This range can be extended by using a ' repeater / talkthrough Basestation ' installed in a favorable position with a small aerial system. Because of the added cost of improving the coverage, most hirers make do with the coverage obtained by just using handportable's.

( This is a basestation including a small aerial, with a stand mike. It improves range out to each handportable compared to using a handportable. This does not increase handportable to handportable range )

( This is used to increase handportable to handportable range when using radios over a large area and so has to be installed in an elevated, clear position. It only improves one channel on the handportable's)
